Memcached is good caching server for wordpress. Top caching plugin like w3cache, w3 super cache use memcached engine to caching data. So it will be perfect if memcache can be setup on your Plesk panel. On this article I will show you how to install memcached on Plesk server.
To help developer Plesk introduced a new feature to install additional module from PECL
To start Plesk need some additional packages.
On plesk multiple PHP version can be installed, but none of them comes with pre-installed memcached module. In this tutorial I will show you install memcached for the PHP version 5.6
Install Memcached on Plesk
Note : Before installation of additional packages, install PHP 5.6 from Plesk autoinstaller.
# yum search plesk-php devel # yum install make plesk-php56-devel gcc glibc-devel libmemcached-devel zlib-devel
Then we build the module:
# /opt/plesk/php/5.6/bin/pecl install memcached
(when prompted for the libmemcached directory, leave it blank and hit the Enter key)
And register it with Plesk:
# echo "extension=memcached.so" > /opt/plesk/php/5.6/etc/php.d/memcached.ini # plesk bin php_handler --reread
You should now be able to see the extension in Tools & Settings > PHP Settings > *any PHP 5.6 handler*
Now you are ready to use Memcached on Plesk
